Retired Lt. Colonel John A. Mihalik passed away in his home on February 7, 2022, at the age of 91. He fought like a courageous soldier to the very end. He served the U.S. Army for 23 years including combat in Korea and Vietnam. He then became a beloved math teacher in Fairfax County, VA. As a result of the Korean war, he hated the cold weather so he and his wife moved to Florida in 1985. He continued to teach math and serve in the community.
He loved the beach, his garden, his morning coffee, the newspaper, his church, and Sunday football including his newly renamed Washington Commanders.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Gloria, his four children: John, Nancy, Mary Beth, and Meg. He was a proud grandpa and “Pop-Pop” to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is so loved and will be missed by all.
He will be laid to rest of March 1 at the South Florida VA cemetery.
