Some how John, things just aren't the same since you've gone.  Your fav's the Dolphins & Marlins are not doing well, we need a coordinator for the baseball outings and, most importantly,  I haven't bought you a Yeungling in a while.

Dorie and Ryan Family,

John was a special man.  No surprise that you as family realized that as a father husband and grandfather.  John and I were late in meeting - even after our careers at IBM - but I always thought there to be kind of a humorous yet mutual reverence in our friendship.

When we have collective events at the IBM organization, I often comment publicly that "I miss John" as a toast  which is met by a here, here from other attendees.  John's' obit card still sits on my desk in daily sight.

As a family, you had the privilege of seeing John most of the time as husband, father and grandfather while many of us co workers had the privilege of seeing him as just a remarkable guy among men.

May he rest in peace and peace truly be in the hearts of the immediate Ryan family.

John, Thank  you for the many years we worked togeather, and became close Knight friends.  You will be in my daily prayers......Fred.

Dear Dorie and Family,
We are sorry to hear of  John's passing.
John was so kind and always willing to lend a helping hand.  We enjoyed spending time with him at many IBMSFQCCAA events.  He will be sorely missed by those of us who were privileged to know him.

The "Chevrier Girls" and I are so sorry not to be with you today as you lay John to rest. We were blessed to have had him as a constant, dependable man in the background of our lives for over 30 years. Please know that our warmest thoughts are with you today and always. Dear Dorie, and Dan ,Robert,and Gloria.                                                                     So sorry to hear about John.  He was always a good kid,and kind to his little brothers  and especially to his sister. I remember babysitting all 4 of you when Bill and I were dating.                                               God bless his family and I will pray for them all.

To Dorie and Family:  John always displayed an extraordinary example of what I believe to be the characteristics of a true and great Irishman. He was humble, honest, and strong in his ways. I loved the way he said little, but always did much more then his share. I will certainly miss him along with all  those who have known him at IBM, the IBMSFQCCAA association, and in his personal life. I will miss the active part he has played since day zero on the Association BOD and his participation in organizing all the sporting events and special club gatherings we all have attended.  -----   Jud

I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing.

My mother Kay Ryan would tell us the story of how she and John’s mother Loyola had both delivered their babies, John and my sister Kathy a day apart.  They shared a room at Little Company of Mary as they each recovered before going home.  In those times, it was several days before they went home.  The cousins had their first introductions at birth.  It was also a blessing for the moms.

I can’t help but remember this story as she told it often and seems very fitting as you prepare to lay him to rest.  
My prayers are with all of you.

My sincere condolences to the Ryan family. John never failed to waive or say hello as I walked by all these years.i always watched for him and his beloved animals. We too shared a love of all creatures great and small. I am shock having just talked to him. May he rest in peace and know that even strangers could be friends.  So sorry for your loss.

To Dori & their family,
Over our many years as neighbors, we always saw John gardening & walking their dogs & saw all their family activities at their home. John & our family are pet lovers & shared stories & love for our pets. Lee Ann shared with us how recently John had tears learning of our dog Walter’s passing away. John was a gentle, kind-hearted soul, who we loved to see & encounter on our walks in BB& T.  He truly loved his family. We will really miss looking out our front window & not seeing him. I spent some time with Mr. Ryan over the last few years, as my father is a member of the IBM club, and we would all get together and go to FAU football & basketball games.  For football, we would all tailgate at FAU, and basketball, we would go to Augy's Pizza for a pitcher of beer and pizza, compliments of the old tech geniuses.  He was always very personable, humble, and just a nice guy...a pleasant presence to be around.  He actually reminds me a lot of my father in his mannerisms and way with people.  He always seemed to be content and smiling, and just happy to be sharing fellowship with fellow IBM studs and their offspring.  I will miss him at the events, and I am praying for strength, peace and healing for the Ryan family and loved ones.  God bless.

Very saddened to hear about John...and how devastating this must have been for Dorie and the entire family .  Although John and I worked at IBM Boca at the same time, we met through the IBM SFQCCAA.  
Never dismayed, always willing to help and an all around, robust, wonderful caliber of a man.  We had many a laugh together and too few beer glasses clinked.
To John and his memory I offer God's greatness celebrated in a couple of Irish Prayers;   

“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face…”

“May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door. And happiness be with you now and bless you evermore.”

Among the many others, I will miss not knowing you are here but in a better place to which most of us aspire.

I met John as a fellow member of the IBM South Florida QCC and Alumni Association. He was an active member and board Treasurer for several years. John was a kind and generous person and I will miss him greatly. 

John and I became friends at STM with chess which he taught me and  stamp collecting   Nerdy but fun  At Leo we played Bball many afternoons after school with Jim Farrel Bob Mueller and other STMers  John and I finished our time at Leo as Yearbook Editors He was my best friend  at Leo and STM Icould always count on his support and counsel I never saw him lose his temper be boorish etc He was a real class act

John and I grew up in Chicago and attended ST. Thomas More.  We maintained a friendship over the  years and at times we use to travel to Michigan to play golf and cards. We stayed at my Grandmother's cottage with an outhouse and water that we had to pump from a well. Great times - He will be missed! Rest in peace my friend. Tom aka Robbie

I graduated from Saint Thomas More and Leo with John. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever known. If you saw him coming toward you, you would say 'good here comes John' not 'here comes John, where can I hide'. 
Dori, John and you and all of your family are in my prayers.

Mr. Ryan was a very kind hearted man. I will miss our talks at his kitchen table. He will always be missed 😢
