John Matthew Shaffer Jr.

John was born on December 11, 1940, in Buffalo, New York. He was the son of the late John Matthew Shaffer, Sr and the late Elenore (Klaiber) Shaffer. John is predeceased by his parents, a stepmother Thelma R Shaffer, and a brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Goodwin.

John grew up on the family farm South Wales and was educated in East Aurora, New York. John served his country in the United States Air Force. after completing his service, he returned to the family farm, and worked for American Airlines, as an agent, then Shea’s Buffalo Theater. His final place of work before retirement was Niagara Lutheran Nursing Home. Upon retiring he moved to Tamarac, Florida to continue his life with Michael and shared his time between Florida and the family farm. John was a devoted husband to Michael, and a loving brother to his sister Mary. He will be missed dearly by extended family, neighbour and friends.

John is survived by his husband/partner of 52 years, Michael Mancuso, his sister Mary Shaffer Goodwin of Buffalo, and his beloved dog, Princess.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a brief service at 7:00 PM at Babione Funeral Home, 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, Florida 33428.

John will be flown home to Comfort Funeral Home on Olean Rd in South Wales, New York, followed by a brief visitation for family and friends and later laid to rest with a private family gathering at Holmes Hill Cemetery.
