

Kathie Moriarty of NE 3rd Ct. in Boca Raton, FL, died on May 7th at the Boca Raton Atrium where she lived for the last year. She was born on June 3, 1925, in Brattleboro, VT. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1947 and went on to teach French, Spanish, and English as a Second Language in Vermont. The family moved to Annandale, Virginia, in 1963 and she taught for twenty more years for the Fairfax County Public Schools. She loved teaching and interacting with people. She shared her love of French and French culture with everyone. Kathie also enjoyed meeting students from around the world while teaching ESL. Kathie married Jim Moriarty in 1948. She and Jim owned a luncheonette-newspaper store in downtown Essex Junction, VT. Both were involved in political action and community service. Kathie lived in Vermont, Virginia, and Boca Raton, FL. She loved friends, exercise class, Alpha Chi events, and political action. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kathie is survived by her daughter Kathleen Brown (Art Brown), her son Michael Moriarty (Dorothy Moriarty), her son-in-law Ralph Nordin, her grandchildren, Patrick Brown (Edan Lepucki), Stephanie Brown, Andrew Brown (Anissa Brown), Kevin Brown, Emma Nordin, and Sean Moriarty, and her great-grandson Dixon Brown. She was predeceased by her husband, James F. Moriarty and her daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Nordin. There were calling hours from 4 to 7 pm Friday May 15th at the Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home at 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL. The funeral mass was Saturday morning May 16th at 10 am at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3510 S. Ocean Blvd., Highland Beach, FL.
