Louise Armington Carlton, 87, passed peacefully Wednesday, January 15th at the Atrium in Boca Raton, Florida.

Louise Carlton was born and raised in Holden, Massachusetts to parents Henry Lucian and Juliette and brother Henry Lucian III (Phil). She was a long-time resident of Homestead, Florida. Upon retirement in1990, she and her husband Edward moved to Estero, Florida.

Louise was a Secretary and Administrative Assistant at Leisure City and Calusa Elementary Schools for the Miami-Dade County School System. She was also the Junior Choir director at Homestead Air Force Base and continued singing in church choirs for most of her adult life.

Upon retirement, Louise and her husband joined the Estero United Methodist Church. As long-time members, she faithfully served as the office administrator and volunteered for the Walk to Emmaus. Her passion for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, music, and serving God were unparalleled.

During the last several years of her life, Louise gracefully battled Alzheimer’s. Even though the disease ultimately limited her conversation, she was still able to hum her music, smile with a sparkle in her eyes and effortlessly offer an “I love you” to all. It’s been said that “she sang her way right into heaven.” She was an inspiration to everyone who met her and she will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her six children, Pamela and her husband Steve Adair; Cynthia and her husband Greg Griffin; Kimberlee and her husband Wayne Kemble; Lisa and her husband Karl Greer; Mark Kull; Paul Kull; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many, many close friends. Her beloved husband of 43 years, Edward, predeceased her in 2017.

Arrangements are being made under the direction of Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, Boca Raton, Florida.

Mom,
When I was a kid, I wrote you notes of encouragement when you had a bad day and I put them on your pillow. As an adult, I turned to you for guidance and affirmation when I’d have a bad day. I could always count on your expressed love and encouragement. I’ll talk to you in my dreams, Ma, and I’ll listen for you on my good days and on days filled with hardships. Your words, your advice, and your love will stay forever in my heart. I’ll miss you always and forever until I see you again.

"Dear Louise"

Please forgive me if I'm forgetful
I can't recall you word for word
Still the echoes of your absence
Hold me back and beg to be heard

So we stand here playing soldier
Solemn rocks along the shoals
Every grief a line of mortar
Every brick a hand to hold

We heaved shovels into quicksand
Fervent brushstrokes on the mask
Holding close the prying question
If the mirror was smiling back

Doubt crept through every crevice
Dare we peek behind the blinds?
But we were met with your love and kindness
And neither failed the test of time

Nor your hair of windswept whimsy
Grins teeming with lyric and song
Stares turned twinkling glimpses
Of memories where they belonged

So don your violets, join her song
Call Claire de Lune forth from the keys
I will remember you eternal
Our darling, dear Louise

Grandma,

Thank you for all the love and support you have given me. I wouldn’t be who I am today without your direction. Now you are living life in a better place without any struggle. Knowing you are up there singing down to us brings only peace. Thank you Grandma! You will be dearly missed!

Mom, you touched so many lives, none more than your six children. I am so grateful for everything you gave us and taught us. We will love you forever and miss you the rest of our lives. Cindy

Louise will always be a very special lady to me. She leaves the best Sister In Law who is married to mr Brother, Karl Greer. When I think of Louise, she always said, “you cannot work your way into Heaven” so true spoken by one of the wonderful Christians I have been so privileged to know and love. A fine example of the woman I want to be

Mom,

My heart is broken. I can't find the words right now, so I'll borrow these. I hope you don't mind.

Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise
Birds in the trees twitter Louise
Each little rose tells me it knows I love you
Love you

Every little beat that I feel in my heart
Seems to repeat what I felt at the start
Each little sign tells me that I adore you
Louise

And I do adore you, Mom. Forever.
