

Muffie (Margaret Ann) Liebler of Highland Beach, FL, passed away on October 5th at the age of 71. Born in Fort Lewis, WA to Dr. Charles and Margaret Schmitt; she is predeceased by her parents and brother Tom. The eldest of nine siblings, Muffie resided in Pittsburgh, where she graduated from Mount Mercy Academy and the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s in Education and married Frederick B. Liebler M.D. in 1968. The couple moved to Florida, which they called home for the past 42 years.
Muffie maintained a vigorous lifestyle, dedicated to raising her children, adventure travel and nonstop entertaining on the beach. With her quick wit and keen sense of humor, she forged friendships with acquaintances from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. She was a fixture at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the German-American Oktoberfest, a multiple 1st prize winner for floats she designed and built for the Delray St. Patrick's Day Parade and a friend to anyone with an interesting story. She loved life and all it had to offer.
Muffie was a loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Muffie is survived by her husband, Frederick B. Liebler, and her children Heather Phelps and husband Brian; Fritz Liebler and wife Heather; Heidi Zafarnia and husband Bobby; and Jodi Liebler. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Vivien and Beatrix Liebler and Sienna Zafarnia. Also surviving Muffie are her brothers and sisters Charlie, Joe, Kathy, Jim, Paul, Dick and Laurie and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, 1100 North Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33432. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 North Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL. Margaret will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurry, PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
Muffie had an incomparable zest for life that she shared with her family, friends, and countless strangers. She will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her. She was bigger than life.
