Marietta was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 24, to Julio and Dorothy. Along with her parents, Marietta was preceded in death by her step-father, Nicholas.
Marietta is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul, her son Paul Jr. (Laura), daughter Christine (Brendan), son Peter (Lisa), and grandchildren, Marisa, Paul III, Brittany, Carli and Joanna. Marietta is also survived by sisters, Camille (Perry), Nicolette (Gasper), sister in-law, Cathy [Carl (predeceased)], and nieces and nephews; Donna, Phillip, Michael, Alex, and Stephanie.
In addition to living in Brooklyn, Marietta later moved to Queens and after graduating from High School she worked for Pan American Airlines. Upon her wedding in June, she started her married life in Middle Village before moving to Maspeth and starting her family. Eventually, again she moved out to Long Island to raise her children.
Family meant everything to Marietta and she proved that by being a devoted wife, mother and sister. After her children grew into their teenager years, she returned to the workforce with a local marketing company and then became an office manager. As time went on, her life changed again when she was given the new title of Grandmother!
Finally, Marietta retired to Coconut Creek, Florida where she enjoyed the warmer temperatures, interesting cloud formations, and crazy weather patterns. She also looked forward to many get-togethers and activities with family members that had already moved to Florida…what she absolutely didn’t like were the lizards and palmetto bugs!
Marietta loved the sights and sounds of the waves crashing onto the shore and truly appreciated her excursions to Deerfield Beach with her cousin Marie, where they would talk and people-watch for hours. She also liked dining at the restaurants overlooking the beach there.
But her greatest enjoyment in life was watching her grandchildren and spending quality time with them. Marietta cherished her trips back to NY to visit with family for the holidays or getting to meet her newest grandchild for the first time. She greatly anticipated her family’s trips to visit her in Florida too where she would spoil everyone with her compassion, love, wonderful cooking and dotting over her five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on October 10, 2020 at 12:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 4:00pm at Babione Funeral Home, 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, Florida.
