Maeve was born in New York City to Irish immigrants, Anthony Joseph Cribbin and Margaret McGrath Cribbin. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph Chastain Hollman, who predeceased her.
Maeve raised her family on Long Island, New York, while also building a long career. She worked for Con Edison and later for the United States Postal Service, from which she retired.
A devoted mother, Maeve took a genuine interest in every part of her children’s lives. During their younger years, she was a class mom and an active presence in their schools and activities. As they grew older, she could always be found cheering them on from the sidelines, attending their cross-country and track meets, and supporting whatever was important to them. That devotion only grew when she became a grandmother. Her eight grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life, and she was always looking forward to and planning her next visit with them. She loved playing with her granddogs and always had a blast at the dog beach.
Maeve loved being outdoors and enjoyed parks, beaches, and watching a beautiful sunset. She enjoyed traveling and especially treasured her many trips to Ireland. She enjoyed walking, was involved in running clubs for many years, and even ran several half-marathons.
After making her home in Boca Raton, Maeve became a parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, where she enjoyed being part of parish life and attending church gatherings and events. Over the years, she also enjoyed the friendships and activities of her community’s social and yacht clubs. Maeve was fun-loving, enjoyed a good laugh, and had a gift for friendship. She was especially blessed by the lifelong friendships she shared with Eileen, Kay, and Marilyn.
Maeve was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Cribbin.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Rueck (Michael), Joseph Chastain Fahey, Maureen Robinson (Paul), and Susan Shields (Larry); and her cherished grandchildren, Sean (Haylee), Christopher (Charissa), Thomas, Michael Jr., Lauren, Jack, Patrick, and Kate. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she dearly loved.
Maeve’s children often say they hit the jackpot having her as their mom. Her love was constant, her support unwavering, and there was nothing more important to her than her family. The love, traditions, and memories she gave her children and grandchildren will remain a lasting part of her legacy. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
