Pasquale “Pat” Perrotta Jr age 75 passed away peacefully at Hospice by the Sea after a courageous battle fighting pancreatic cancer. Pat was born on September 28, 1943 to Pasquale Perrotta Sr and Sara Benanti and grew up in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn NY. He graduated from George Westinghouse Technical High School in the spring of 1961 and married his first love, Carol Ann Barkey of Ridgewood Queens the following year. A skilled electrician, he chose to work for Service Trucking where his father was Shop Steward and a member of the Teamsters Local #707 and then #560. In the early 1970’s Pat moved his family from Oakland NJ to sunny South Florida and opened a Shell gas station in Pompano Beach. Later, he acquired two more service stations and moved his family to Boca Raton Florida near the beach that he loved. A hard working, honest and generous man, he enjoyed serving his customers, took pride in his work as a mechanic, and loved being an entrepreneur.
Pat was dedicated to his family. He was a devoted husband of 56 years, a loving father and a super awesome grandpa to his five grandchildren. Pat retired early and became a grandparent at age 50 enabling him to be very involved with the grand kids for which we are all grateful.
An avid gardener, Pat loved growing vegetables from seed, spent many hours laboring and nurturing his seedlings and took great pride in his crop. He also grew sweet delicious pineapples. In addition to family, food, cooking and gardening, Pat loved to travel. He enjoyed many road trips seeing our great country, visiting National Parks, historic places, Hawaii, Canada, Austria and Ireland.
More recently, Pat started playing pickle ball at Sugar Sand Park and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends, exercising, sweating off a few pounds and building endurance. He loved the game as it reminded him of the old days playing handball in Brooklyn.
Pat was predeceased by his sisters Susan and Frances. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Carol, daughter Debbie and her husband Judson Miller, son Patrick Perrotta and his wife Theresa, five terrific grandchildren, Jeremy, JP, Joseph, Grace and Bridget, his brother Joe and his wife Marie, sister Mary and her husband Jack DeRitter and many nieces and nephews.
