Bob was a self-described rogue tomato. An incredible storyteller, Bob kept his friends and family in stitches throughout his life. A graduate of The Ohio State University and a lifelong Buckeye, he knew that saying O-H-I-O was more than a Saturday war cry. He often listed his three proudest accomplishments as quitting smoking, achieving his PSIA Level 3 ski instructor certification, and having his son. It’s worth noting that he always said them in that order.
Prior to his diagnosis with ALS, Bob cherished his time with the Buckeye Bop Club, Columbus Swing Dance Club, his family at the Snow Trails Ski School, and his lifelong friends and fellow music aficionados in Clintonville. He was a proud RE/MAX realtor and never passed up an opportunity to be the last man on the golf course.
He was, above all else, a really good dad. He finished each day by asking his son if he had told him he loved him that day. The answer was always yes. He’d say it again anyway.
He loved his family beyond words and was truly proud of the accomplishments of his niece and nephews. He loved them dearly and looked forward to the future endeavors of their children.
He is survived by his mother, matriarch of the Nygren family, Rose; his son, Alex (Mackenzie); sisters Vickie (Greg) Dorsey, Kim (Regis) McCafferty, and Lisa Nygren; niece and nephews Brian (Stefano), Matt (Jenny), Ashley (Jimmy), and Chris (Christina); twins: grandniece, Aurora and grandnephew, James; and many other cherished family and friends.
Celebrate Bob’s life by enjoying a good cigar, playing a round of golf well past sunset, executing a perfect transition from edge to edge on the morning’s corduroy, dancing after the music stops, listening to great jazz, or laughing with your loved ones around the dinner table.
