I met Bobby when I first moved to South Florida in 1979. I was the new kid in high school and he always made me feel welcome. For me he was the epitome of cool, and he made me feel that way too. We stayed in touch for a few years after high school, but only now did I learn of his passing. He was one of those people who had such a huge heart. He will never be forgotten. I was honoured to call him my friend.

Bob will never be forgotten.  He changed the path of my life and continues to be an inspiration to live life to its fullest.  Love you Bobby!!!

I went to see an F1 race in Montreal with bob in 1995-with a few friends- there was a verynice cocktail party at a nice hotel with a few drivers , a great event- buttttt- you had to have spent $2000 to buy the F1 package to go to it- not bobby- we went- he snuck us in through the kitchen and the next thing you know we were surrounded by all these famous former drivers- bobby was so great at life- so much fun- such a beautiful man-- ram

Bobby bought a pr of glasses from me in my dc store 15 yrs ago- from that day we became great friends- going to montreal to see the grand prix- since he was an avid f1 fan as i am- his kindness to my boys will never be forgotten- and i am very sad to hear this news today-- i can still hear his voice- and always will- bob mcaleer

My oldest cousin, it is so hard to say good bye but I know I will see you again some day. You have impacted my life more than words can express and I am so thankful to call you my cousin. You taught me so many things but most of all how to show love. Your hugs were like nothing else imaginable. I will always remember the story of you and my mom jumping on the bed as kids, well now you are up there together having a blast once again. Hi, I cannot not begin to tell you how heart wrenching this news is to me.  I knew Bobby back in the 80's and all I can say about him is that he gave and loved unconditionally with all his heart and soul.  He was always happy and out going and ready to lend a hand to anyone he came in contact with. One of the most refreshing qualities that I remember about Bobby was that he was always a true gentleman.  That cannot be said very often these days.  Always a happy person and always making sure everyone else was happy as well.  He was a best friend to my brother(s) David and Scott and he will be missed by many, but the impact he made on everyone's life who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life, will live with us all forever.

A beautiful man and a true inspiration to me.  I loved Bobby so and I'll always admire his spirit and generosity. We will cherish our memories with Bobby and were so glad to have known such a radical guy we could call our friend. Bobby was unique, a very special man. He loved life and practically everyone he met. He showed others how to be compassionate by his example every day. He was the definition of gregarious. 

I have known Bobby for more than 25 years. Every day we spent time together was a joyous occasion for me. Even in times of sorrow his sense of humor would shine brightly and spread contagious laughter.

Bobby was one of my best friends.  But truthfully, he was everyone's best friend, wasn't he?  He made you feel like he was your best friend because he was so genuine, so real. 

Bobby knew how to listen.  He felt concern and compassion for your problems and absolute joy and pride for your victories and celebrations. He did countless favors without seeking anything in return and was amazingly generous, whether he could afford it or not.  Potato was generous with his time, spirit and love. 

He would literally give you the shirt off his back.  He gave me this shirt off his back simply because he knew I liked it and I am wearing it today in his honor. 

Bobby brought me to tears with the story of his visit to the factory where they made the platinum coils his doctor used to ward off the aneurysms for so long.  He gave a short speech expressing his immense gratitude and the workers cried and shared in his joy. 

Vacationing with Bobby was a special treat.  He and Karen took one of his first snow boarding trips with Debbie and me to Whistler, British Columbia.  I was a bit mystified as to why he packed so many suitcases and bags, including his kite surfing gear.   I mean, kite surfing gear at a ski resort?  Years later we see boarders using kites across glaciers and on high mountain slopes.   Bobby was ahead of the curve on instinct. 

Bobby loved kite surfing and was devoted to his clan of kite surfing friends.  He told me wind surfing was cancelled and he was ready to teach me kite surfing - it was simple he said as long as I was prepared to drink a lot of salt water. 

Bobby was avid when he developed an interest.  No half efforts.  When he chose a sport or hobby he was "all in."  Wind surfing, golf, fine wines, BMWs, Formula One races on TV and in person, music, live music, Raggae, snow boarding, and kite surfing. You name it, he lived it. 

Bobby loved his family, you all know that, but we know it because we heard it from him.  It was tough to schedule time to see Bobby on occasion because he always seemed to have something scheduled with Karen, Regina and her boys, Valerie and Joe, Joey & Tica, or others in his family and it always took priority. 

Some folks politely ask you how your kids are doing. Bobby loved our kids and your kids and always asked about them by name, remembered their stories and wanted updates.  

Olivia and I went to Argentina with Bobby to snow board last summer.  I loved the anticipation of traveling with Bobby and my daughter and the trip was fantastic.  Our only international ailments were sore stomachs from laughing so hard with Bobby.  His last text to me included this comment about my daughter's graduation:

John, "I'll be thinking about you and the family especially over Memorial Day weekend with much proper pride and jubilation while you're all celebrating in San Diego.  WOOT WOOT"

I don't think any of us really know how much pain Bobby endured with his headaches. He wouldn't let us know.  He faced his health issues with courage.  Rather than retreat into a shell of self pity, he blossomed with optimism and enjoyed his  life with gusto. In the process he made many of our lives better and his loving spirit and compassionate generosity will inspire me for the rest of my life to try to be a better person, to try to be like Bobby. 

If he was here now and I know he is with us in spirit, Bobby would tell us to stop crying, keep hugging and loving each other and start laughing.  Whatever you say Bobby.  Let's celebrate his life.  One love and  WOOT WOOT!

I'll never forget the first time we met; it was my first out of town job as a new bee at McGladrey in 1994 when you flew in to review the files at Sawgrass Country Club. You immediately became a person I admired, a true inspiration. You are by far the coolest partner. Thanks for being you! 

As “The Club Guru”, you were a trail blazer who spoke with such passion and shared so much knowledge with others, bar none. You have given so much to so many in your short life time and accomplished what most others only dream of…a rare gem...much love, prayers and compassion to Bob's family for their loss, he will be deeply missed.

The people who truly stand out in our lives are the ones who stay true to their own unique identities. Bobby was exactly that... unique and true.

While we had lost touch over the years, I still have fond memories of my first few years in South Florida at McGladrey & Pullen with Bob.  In NY I was known as the "punk rock accountant" and when I arrived in Ft Lauderdale, Bob and I hit it off right away based upon our common taste in music.  I still remember the many weekends we spent at the old night club Squeeze in Ft Lauderdale and the concerts we went to back then.

We also spent a lot of time on clients together at Country Clubs throughout South Florida with Bob as the audit guy and me as the tax guy.

Some of my best memories are the years that I spent at McGladrey and many of those days were with Bob.

We will all miss you buddy!!  Some day we will get together again for a tee time in Heaven.

Bobby, words are insufficient to express how much you will be missed.  Your joyous optimism and love of life in the face of adversity is an inspiration.  Your compassion and generosity for family, friends, and others was unsurpassed.  You are a true Prince and we all love you.  We celebrate your life and will strive to enjoy our lives as much as you did.

I will always remember the day I met Bobby.  He was on his paddle board floating by my back yard with a big smile.  His cooler along with his loudly playing boom box was bunged to the board.  That day I knew he was a special guy.  He will be missed.

The happiest and funniest guy I've ever known will be sorely missed by all. He's the only person who could make a clubs trends meeting tolerable. From running into bob at a smashing pumpkins concert or at a party he would always give a big hug with a huge smile and make it seem like he was on top of the world. Miss you pal!

After riding with you, I gave you the nickname speed racer. Formula 1 racer in the making, I used to say. Bobby did so much for the hospitality industry here in south Florida and was my inspiration. We met my first day of work at PKF when I  moved to Florida in 1986, where I saw this crazy accountant who was "auditing" while listening to his Walkman..I knew then that I had to make sure that my desk was close to his. I am glad I did, as it gave me a chance to meet this incredibly upbeat, curious, generous, witty, bright young man who became my very good friend, concert tag along, golfing buddy, who I tried to help through some tough times, and he more than reciprocated by reminding me that life should be "lived"..and he did just that..He did more in his 50 years on earth than most do in twice as many years. He is truly the only person I have ever met who NEVER had a bad thing to say about anyone, nor ever had a frown on his face..He visited me in DC when he was going through his diagnosis, and he treated this "medical problem" as it was just a smalldistraction, and nobody should worry about him..He was truly an ispiration to me during his lifetime, and will continue to be for the rest of my days. I love you Bobby.

I first meet Bobby when I was 10 years old. He was always the cool brother of one of my best friends, his brother Joey.  Bobby was always someone that I admired as a little kid growing up and always thought of him as a brother. That admiration carried over into my adult life.  He was a risk taker and someone that always lived life to the fullest. He never backed down from a challenge, especially when it came to ocean! I feel very fortunate to have grown up with Bobby, Joey, Michelle, Val and Joe Sr. They are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I met Bobby for the first time in high school. We only spent a small amount of time together but it was exceptional.  He was a great guy.  Although I did not know him as well as others, he was always very friendly to me and helpful when I became an Accountant later in life.  RIP Bobby.

Bobby was my best friends he was so full of life and so smart. He always knew the right thing to do and was a very happy go lucky person. We windsurfed together and had many adventures. In the public sector he helped me launch my museum and galleries and was always there giving me the very best cpa advice for my nonprofit and helped me out when I needed him the most.
