Uncle Sal,
my family’s hearts are filled with many fond, loving, memories of you, and we will miss you dearly.
You always loved expressing your thoughts and views on everything, from world events and politics, to everyday ongoings at work or home. I loved discussing and sharing thoughts with you on Facebook, your posts always made me smile or laugh.
I’ll never forget how patient and loving you were with children. I remember when I would occasionally take my son Matteo to work with me, and you would stop by and visit us at the warehouse. Matteo loved seeing you, and being in your company. You would take him with you, and I remember how he would listen and absorb everything you would explain, show, and teach him.
We will all cherish you in our hearts forever.

Uncle Sal, you are missed already. I know you are hearing the beautiful stories being shared by your family and friends, new and old. So many have spoken of your love of gardening. This year you shared 5 tomato plants with me. I sent you pictures of their growth and harvest through the summer. Never have I ever harvested so many tomatoes. I made delicious salads and salsas with them and bragged to those who didn’t know that you gave me those plants. I will miss trading recipes with you. I will miss your strouffoli and cakes at Christmas. I will miss your barbecues with enough delicious food to feed an army.
Just as your granddaughters shared, my earliest memory of you has to be of you sitting Christine, Vincent, David and I down at your kitchen table and teaching us about the stars. You were always so animated. We were not allowed to play until after our lesson. I also remember playing crochet and badminton in your Baldwin backyard. Fond memories of childhood.
You had a passion for music and singing. You played the bongos with the band at my birthday party without knowing a member in it. You just got right up and joined in and I loved that.
Uncle Sal, Rest In Peace. Show us signs that you are ok and send my Aunt your strength. I promise to honor you every Christmas. Your spirit will always be in our hearts.
I love you,
Denise

A memory that will forever stay with me about my pop pop is us nine years ago in my living room studying countless hours for a quiz about all of the explorers in American history. I remember the passion in his eyes when testing me and getting excited and encouraging me every time I got a question right. I believe that he passed down that same passion for following his dreams to me. As I am getting closer and closer to my dream of going to medical school, I always think of him being one of the sole people that has gotten me to where I am today, and I am so blessed to say that. He was a man of many talents and had a heart of gold. He had emotionally supported me throughout all of the milestones in my academic and personal life and has pushed me to become the person I am today. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without him. As I am pushing through the last parts of my undergraduate years in college, I will always have my pop pop’s voice in the back of my head, saying to never give up on your goals in life and to keep pushing forward despite the challenges ahead. He always wanted us to be successful in life and now, I will never lose sight of my dreams of being a doctor and he will be my source of inspiration for becoming successful in life. I love and miss you more than words, pop pop. I hope throughout my life, you will be my guardian angel and look down and smile at what I do with my future, and I am so thankful to know that I will be going on this journey of life with you by my side.
