Dear Aunt Treasa,

I will deeply miss your wonderful sense of humor, your quick wit, and your vibrant spirit. Your beautiful way with words, always describing things as “very excellent,” will remain in my heart forever. Knowing that you are now in heaven with my mom brings me some comfort, imagining the two of you sharing stories and laughter together. The Cassedy family truly has a remarkable gift for conversation, and I feel so grateful to have experienced it with you. Hug mom and everyone else up there for me!

When Treasa's sister Judy Rector and my friend Peter Rector were married I had the honor of meeting the charming Treasa during that happy event.   Many years later our paths crossed again at a Rector family function in Newport, Rhode Island, and also during a visit to southeast Florida several years ago.  We chatted about a number of things, including the fact that our birthdays shared the same month and  year.   She was a fine and memorable person with a magnetic personality and a comfortable and welcoming way about her.  I will never forget her.  May God have mercy upon her blessed soul.

I’m grateful that I had the chance to live in Las Vegas with Mom. It was a time our family will always remember.

She truly enjoyed being there—especially the Wynn. She loved the breakfast buffet and looked forward to it every time. It was something that brought her real happiness, and it became a bit of a tradition for us while we were there.

Those memories—of her smiling, enjoying herself, and feeling at ease—are something our whole family will hold onto with love and gratitude.

My mother wasn’t sentimental or dramatic. She was steady, practical, and full of common sense. She believed in doing what needed to be done, in keeping things simple, and in taking care of the people she loved without making a fuss about it.

She was the kind of person who didn’t need to say much—her actions spoke for her. Her strength was quiet, but constant. She never looked for attention or praise, but she earned respect from everyone who truly knew her.

For 61 years, I had the honor of calling her my mother. And in this last year, I had the privilege of being her caretaker. It wasn’t always easy, but it was one of the greatest honors of my life. To be there for her the way she had always been there for me—it felt right. It felt like love returned.

Now that she’s gone, I feel the weight of her absence in everything. I miss her straightforward advice, her calm presence, the way she made things feel manageable just by being who she was.

She didn’t seek the spotlight, but she was the center of my world.

And I will miss her every single day.
