Virginia “Betty” Jordan Bowes, 96, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. She was born on March 18, 1929, and was the beloved wife of the late William (Bill) T. Bowes, whom she married on June 3, 1950.
Together they raised six children and made their home in Stamford, Connecticut; New Jersey; California; Bougival, France; and Florida.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in her family, her friendships, and her many interests. She was an avid bridge player and loved working on puzzles.
She is survived by her six children: Bill Bowes of Jamestown, TN; Ginger Bowes and Don Pelletier of Barkhamsted, CT; Tom Bowes and Monica of Boynton Beach, FL; Terry Bowes and Pam of Frederick, MD; Bob Bowes and Alyson of Columbia, MD; and Cindie Lawton and Bill of Cary, NC. She was the proud grandmother of sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her daughter-in-law Stella, and her grandson Jonathan.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty’s life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm at Babione Funeral home, 1100 N. Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, Florida. A memorial service at St. Joan of Arc, 370 SW 3rd, Boca Raton, FL with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL. Betty loved all animals but especially her dogs, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Palm Beach County SPCA and/or Tri-County Animal Rescue.
