Boyce Nelson Hewett

Boyce Nelson Hewett, 82, of Supply died Tuesday March 17th, 2020 at his home. Mr. Hewett was born in Brunswick County on January 23, 1938 and was the son of the late Johnie Edward "Shub" Hewett and Eliza Danford Hewett. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lou Cheers, Mina Smith, Craven Hewett, Nelda Smith. He was an auto mechanic for 28 years for Russ Ford of Shallotte and later in his career it changed to Jones Ford. He served 21 years with the Army-National Guard. He enjoyed watching races and wrestling. Mr. Hewett was a member of Shell Point Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Florence H. Hewett ; two sons, Michael Hewett and wife Sheri of Supply, Timothy Boyce Hewett and wife Donna of Shallotte; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday March 20, 2020 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Shell Point Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Josh Williams, Craven A. Hewett, Dean Smith, Lindbergh Smith, Clay Smith The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Boyce & I were in the National Guard together. I spent 20 years with him in the Guard. He was easy going and dedicated to his job. I was proud to have him on my team. He was such a good man.
