

Charles C. "Charlie" Bowie, Jr., who died of natural causes on November 15, 2025, was born in Harlingen, Tx, as there was not hospital in San Benito in January 1940, and raised in the home of his parents, Charles C. and Leona W. Bowie, and sister, Patricia, in Valencia Park each of whom predeceased him.
He graduated from SBHS in 1957. He had been a resident of North Carolina since 2003.
Bowie met his wife, Louise, of almost 59 years on a blind date while he was attending Washington & Lee University and she, Hollins College, each in Virginia.
He is survived by two of this three sons Jim and Robert, their respective wives, Tammy and Bonny, four grandchildren, Amanda, James, Micah and Landon, three great grandchildren, Avalynn, Annabell, and Seamus, and three nephews and their respective wives, Rick (Karen) Andy (Catherine) and Jeff (Shannon) Davis, and their children among other kin. Their oldest son, Charles III, predeceased him in 2015, as did his older sister, Patricia Bowie Davis, in 2013.
While living in Maryland the Bowie's cruised the Chesapeake Bay, its tributaries as well as most of the east coast of the United States from their residence off the Rhode River south of Annapolis, Maryland. They were also avid golfers throughout their life together, visiting many terrific venues. In addition to being with his wife and family and friends, Bowie enjoyed baseball, country music, and sharing his stories with the gift of gab.
Bowie was Honorably Discharged from active duty with the rank of First Lieutenant, Infantry, USAR, and Honorably Discharged thereafter from the reserves with the rank of Captain. Bowie, a Washington & Lee University graduate, practiced law in Maryland and the District of Columbia for more than 40 years. He was active in Community Service activities throughout most of his life, beginning the Key Club in high school to member of Kiwanis International.
Bowie will be cremated and buried at sea on the Chesapeake Bay near the Thomas Point LIght House outside Annapolis, Maryland.
