

Buck was born January 6, 1941 in Brunswick County and was the son of the late Rhobie and Ruby Leach Phelps. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara C. Phelps and his siblings, Dan Phelps, Evelyn Robinson, William "Billy" Phelps, Frances Cook, Jean Humphrey and Linda Gant; two nephews, Terry Phelps and Clint Humphrey and a niece, Carolyn Robinson. He owned and operated his logging business for 47 years during which time he was a sub-contractor for Canal Wood. Buck also enjoyed farming and gardening and being with his family. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Pam Phelps of Supply and Denise Phelps McKeithan and husband Danny of Supply; grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Brittany Harris Stanley, Kelsey McKeithan and Garett McKeithan; great-grandchildren, Caden Stanley, Bella Stanley, Jacob Harris, Kamyrah McKeithan, Jaxton McKeithan, Lucas McKeithan, Annabella Todd, Paighton Harris and Abel Harris; a special friend, Carolyn Shelley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 10, 2022 at two o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, 603 Ocean Highway, Bolivia with Reverend Jesse Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Danny Phelps, Garett McKeithan, Matthew Harris, Jacob Harris, Kenneth Stanley, Caden Stanley, Kenneth Stanley, and Billy Harris.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from six o'clock until eight o'clock at the funeral home and other times from the residence.
