Mrs. Hockenberry was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Maude Shelton. She is also preceded by her loving husband Gerald L. Hockenberry, Sr., brothers; Henry Shelton, Jr., (Butch), and Paul Larson Shelton, and a sister; Midge Pyle. She is survived by her two sons; Gerald Hockenberry of Youngstown, Ohio, and Richard Hockenberry of McHeney, IL, three sisters; Betty Irvine of Ca, Helen Vale, (her twin), of Roseburg, OR, and Frances Tibbots of Holden Beach, NC, Grandchildren: Christopher, Theresa, Allison, and Matthew, and six Greatchildren.
Doris was born in Medford MA on July 8, 1931. She was retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, and relocated to Holden Beach, NC in 1993. Mrs. Hockenberry was a Lady of the Moose, and a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, August 12, 2011, at Sharon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
