He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He was also a life-long Ham radio operator and was instrumental in providing emergency communications during many natural disasters throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by wife Rosemarie Ferris; parents, Neil and Mavis Ferris; brother, Lee Ferris; and sister, Barbara Ferris.
He is survived by son Jeff (Angela) Ferris of Gate City, Virginia and their son, Thomas Ferris; daughter, Kelly (KC) Carpenter and daughter, Courtney Burton of Supply, NC. He also has three great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life ceremony held at his home in Fountain, NC later this summer with a date to be announced.
