

Eugene was a retiree of the NCDOT and continued to work in road construction for Summit Design and Engineering. He took great pride in his work and strived to give freely back to others in every aspect of his life. He loved his family, God, his career, and early morning beach walks with his 2-year-old dog Shelby, who followed him everywhere.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Franklin McKethan; son Stephen Lacy McKethan, and wife Deborah; daughter, Melanie Brooke McKethan; grandson, Brayden Michael McKethan; sister, Leslie McKethan Manley, and fiancé Randy Johnson; and niece, Meredith Leigh Manley.
Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Lacy McKethan Jr. and Fay Miller McKethan; brothers David Thomas McKethan and Rodney Manley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am at MacPherson Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. Another Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday July 16, 2022 in Shallotte Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to MacPherson Presbyterian Church or Shallotte Presbyterian Church.
