Evelyn "Tootsie Pop" Carpenter

Evelyn was born in Columbus County on February 17, 1960 and was daughter of the late Ernest Garland Smith and Vera Hughes Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church Shallotte.

Survivors include by her husband and best friend Tommy Carpenter of the home; two sons, Eric Carpenter and wife Kim of Chapel Hill, Nicholas Carpenter and wife Kimberly of Supply; two grandsons, Aidan Carpenter and Noah Carpenter; three brothers, Lennon Smith and wife Avis of Ash, Reverend Charlie Smith and wife Alice of Ash, Danny Smith and wife Janice of Ash; four sisters, Caldonia Miller and husband Billy of Wilmington, Lois Milliken and husband Terry of Ash, Elizabeth Phillips and husband Lester of Ash, Debbie Norris and husband William of Shallotte.

Outdoor funeral services will be held on the grounds of First Baptist Church Shallotte on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon with Reverend Bob Weathers officiating. Burial will follow in Galloway Cemetery, West in Supply.

Pallbearers will be Michael Long, Brian Long, Ricky Smith, Edward Smith, Jamie Willetts and Tim Smith.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family requests all attending to practice social distancing and wear a mask.
