He was born September 10, 1943 in Cabarrus County, NC and was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Laura Ann Cavender Bowers. Franklin retired from the textile industry and enjoyed playing golf, he loved to read and listen to music, but most of all spending time with family and his grandsons "who were his pride and joy". He was very proud of his family heritage in Blairsville, Georgia.
Survivors include his daughter, Katie Bowers Efird, and husband Jeff of Shallotte; and two grandchildren, Jackson and Peyton Efird. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Griffin Bowers, and a number of brothers and sisters.
The family will have a private celebration of life later this summer.
