Denny was born March 27, 1955, in Henderson, NC; son of the late Hillman Dempsey Bass, Sr. and Peggy Strickland Bass. He had a love for the outdoors, whether it was fishing, boating, or traveling. He was a successful businessman with a lifetime of real estate deals. He had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that could light up any room.
Denny is survived by his companion Stacy Jones; three sons, Hillman Bass III and his wife Nicole, Hinton Bass, and Harrison Bass; three grandchildren, Kearsey Violette, Hillman Dawson, and Dempsey Cole Bass; one sister, Robin Henderson and her husband Brad; one aunt, Julia Ann Dawley; two nieces, Kendall Henderson and Lindsey Trotter; one nephew, Grayson Henderson; and the mother of his children, Jan Bass.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on, Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 PM at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
