Mrs. King was born April 6, 1953 in California, daughter of the late James Eldridge and Leona Gilliam Lyons. She was a woman of faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes where she attended many bible study groups. She had a gentle, compassionate spirit who cherished her many families; from her immediate family to her church and work families. Being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother brought her so much joy. Her favorite times were spent cooking for her loved ones. She also enjoyed spending time with her cats, Socks, Felix, Tori, and Possum. Janis was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Eldridge, and two sisters, Doris Brown and Judy Johnson. Her memory will remain cherished, held close by those who loved her and sustained by the faithful devotion she so consistently showed throughout her life.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Anthony King of the home; daughters, Angel King and husband Brad of Bolivia, Crystal Blake and husband Patrick of Winnabow, and Marianne Saieed and husband Steven of Wilmington; godchild, Drew Mansfield of Southport; one brother, Raymond Eldridge of Massachusetts, one sister Darlene Phillips of Tennessee; six grandchildren, Colton, Krissy, Christin, Chase, Hannah, and Heath; and four precious great grandchildren, Tucker, Waylon, Madeline, and Blaire.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026 at three o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 603 Ocean Highway East, Bolivia, North Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service; from 2:00 until 3:00.
