

Jean was born in Patchogue, NY on the tenth of July, 1933 to the late John and Jennie Stumme Gerard. Upon moving to Brunswick County, NC some twenty five plus years ago, she continued what turned out to be a career with McDonald’s restaurants which lasted well beyond thirty years. She will fondly be remembered by many patrons by her affectionate nickname “Miss Jean, the biscuit queen”. She was a longtime member of Gospel Center Baptist Church. Her hobbies included baking for her friends at the Brunswick County Water Department, and making her beloved handmade quilts for family and special friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband John Zielinski and a daughter, Faith “Fay” Isabella.
Surviving are two sons, John Zielinski and wife Jane of Mastic, NY, Scott Zielinski and wife Laverne of Supply, NC; a daughter, Penny Harninger and significant other Lane Butler of Shallotte; a special son-in-law, Tim Riley and wife Beverly of Ridge, NY; a brother, Warren Gerard; a sister, Carol Ferrante both of Patchogue, NY; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services are two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the second of January, 2017 in White Funeral Service Chapel, Bolivia/Supply Chapel with The Reverend Foyd Bennett officiating. An interment service will follow in the Holden Family Cemetery, Supply, NC.
