Jennifer Gilbert

Ms. Gilbert was born in Denver, Colorado on February 29, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Charles William Smith and Annie Gilbert Smith. She was a 1970 graduate of South High School in Pueblo, Colorado and an honors graduate from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1974. Jennifer was Teacher’s Assistant at Supply Elementary School and a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting and gardening. She had a love of music and animals.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Gilbert; four children, Charles Edward Gilbert of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Richard Henry Gilbert of Boise, Idaho, Thomas Wade Gilbert of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Heather Rest and husband Robert of Bolivia; two sisters, Caroline Beran of Canon City, Colorado and Patricia Lewis of Bolivia.

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Oak Island on Saturday August 1, 2026 at Eleven o'clock in the morning with Reverend Monroe Cooke and Reverend Lafountain Lyle officiating.
