

Joan Joy (Jayne) Burdick was born on July 29, 1938 and was the daughter of Willard and Anna Helen (Wornley) Jayne. She was proceeded in death by her son, Douglas; her parents; her sister, Janice; her beloved grandmother, Ma Sarah Jayne; and many uncles and aunts that she counted as siblings. She is survived by her beloved husband, Keith Burdick; sister, Judy Jayne; daughters, Debra (Michael Hilton) and Lisa (Ricky McLain); grandchildren, Rachael, Chris, Jenny, Katy, Troy, Tracy, Crystal; and great- grandchildren, Aaliyaha, Riley, Logan, Kendall, Avery Tucker, Savannah, Syaire, Kylynn, and Julianna.
Joan passed peacefully on March 31, 2025 at the age of 86.
Joan lived for her family. She was married to the love of her life, Keith Burdick, for 67 years. She was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother making each one feel loved and special.
Joan also dedicated her life to making other people’s lives better. She volunteered with the Alden, NY substance control program before many knew of the need. Joan was lovingly called Grandma Bee by the children of Piney Grove Headstart in Bolivia, NC. She was essential in welcoming and sending meals to the parishioners of Bethel United Methodist church and community in her hometown.
Joan never met a person that she didn’t like. Her sparkling blue eyes, beautiful white hair and infectious smile elicited a happiness in everyone who saw her.
