A long time resident of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Joan was born October 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Francis Wilbur and Elva Bernice Stevenson Hartzel. She was a extraordinary woman of many talents; wonderful mother, super grandmother, and a loving great grandmother, she was an artist and author, a “talented musician”, a world traveler. Would never shy away from speaking her mind. She was an active member of Saint George’s Episcopal Church in Pungoteague, VA.
Survivors include her two sons, David Iobst and wife Susan of Bolivia, NC and Richard Iobst and wife Cynthia of Craddockville, Va; one daughter, Barbara Gonda of Australia; five grandchildren, Alison Hartz, Cole Iobst, Darby Gonda, Rachel Norman, and Erin Preindl; two great grandchildren, Rebecca Iobst and Nina Joan Preindl.
