All the golden beach moments of my childhood seem to include JR and Aunt Dottie in some way. I remember one time asking JR what the "JR" stood for. He just laughed and asked right back what I thought, so of course being little I said Juggling Rabbits.
My family usually spent a week every year at the beach, normally around my birthday, and it was without fail that we visited Aunt Dottie and JR. One time, a surprise birthday party turned into a family reunion with Aunt Joybell and Uncle Leroy in attendance too. I always loved being around family like that when I was little.
A recent memory I have of JR takes us to the dining table, circled around with his partner in crime Aunt Dottie, running the table on me and Mark (my hubby) in Rook. We learned a thing or two from them during that game.
I'm so glad to have known and loved you JR, and I know my family and feels the same.
With from us all,

Years ago I came to visit you and Grandma when you were living at the campground on Lake Hickory...probably around 1995/96/97. I brought my roommate from college and we spent the weekend I believe. You let us take your boat out and ride around the lake whenever we felt the urge. I never forgot that. And you had your little man cave right down by the water. Then later when you moved back to the beach, you built your garage out back and set your man cave up out there. And when Madelyn came along, she called you “R.R.”
You and Grandma took care of each other and I won’t forget that either. God bless you, R.R.
