Born in Pinehurst, NC on the twenty eighth of February 1944, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Clara McDonald Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Mabe along with brothers Johnny Shelton and Charles Shelton.
Linda spent most of her life living in Montgomery County until 2005 when she and her husband decided to move to Holden Beach where they enjoyed walks on the beach and fishing. She and her husband loved Holden Beach especially the time fishing with their two sons. She enjoyed dancing with her friends at Sonny’s at the Beach. Trips with her family to Maggie Valley to see Raymond Fairchild play the banjo topped her travel list! She was proud being from Ellerbe, NC where her Father was Police Chief for many years. She deeply loved her friends and family.
Surviving are her loving sons, Joey Mabe of Asheboro, NC, Jerry Mabe and wife Keiko of Marysville, WA; a brother, Doyle Shelton of Pleasant Garden, NC; a sister, Joan Douglas of Carthage, NC; Grandchildren, Mallory Mabe of London, England; Megan Mabe Hettich and husband Sam of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Macie Mabe of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Amanda Mabe of Marysville, Washington; Amelia Mabe of Marysville, Washington; Great Grandchildren; Kierstin, Kaden, Zoey, Harper and Holland of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a niece, Lori Rakes of Carthage, NC; nephews, Randy Britt of Star, NC, Andy Shelton of Greensboro, NC, Lyn Shelton of Wesley Chapel, NC; Steve Shelton, Tommy Shelton and Lee Shelton; other extended family too numerous to mention; close friends, Rhonda Polston of Troy, NC, Gwen Collins of Asheville, NC, Danny Parker of West Virginia and Gale Palazzo of Holden Beach, NC.
