A memorial service will be held Summer of 2020 at the Calkins Residence. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Lloyd was born in Mineola, New York on October 31, 1953. He received his GED, attended classes at Farmingdale college, and continued to receive a welding certification from BOCES.
Lloyd was married to Laura on November 22, 1974; they were married for 45 years and had three children together.
Lloyd worked as a Natural Gas Technician for National Grid for 26 years. Lloyd was a devoted husband and father. He was skilled in wood working, and endeavored in many home projects. His hobbies included collecting specialty and antique tools. He was also a hockey fanatic and a dedicated New York Islanders fan. Lloyd was a great dancer and was known for his love of oldies music. He enjoyed partaking in family gatherings, and spending time with his many dear friends. Lloyd was known for his sense of humor, outgoing personality, and boisterous laugh. Lloyd’s presence surely filled a room. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Lloyd is survived by his spouse, Laura; three children, Nicholas, Andrew, and Christina; his daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Amanda; his grandsons, Mason and Jax; his sister, Judy Nicholson; nieces, Lesley Downing and Lynnette Blazo; and other family and friends.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his mother, Florence Schaal, and brother, William Calkins.
Condolences may be offered to Laura Calkins, or held off until the memorial service.
