
Lynn MacCallum Hammond born November 21, 1933, passed away Wednesday July 22, 2026 in Bolivia NC. She was the daughter of Dr. Charles and Helen MacCallum. Lynn was the youngest of three children and adored her brothers Charles and Harry. Lynn will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend to many.
Lynn grew up in Midland, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan where she graduated and obtained her teaching degree. While in Michigan she married the love of her life George Hammond and they were married for 54 years before his passing in 2008.
Lynn was an avid golfer, loved politics, the beach, Michigan Wolverines and her family, friends, and her dog Patch. Tradition was important to her and she spent many years passing on those to her family. She and her husband loved to travel. She loved gardening, a good joke and exploring her deep Scottish roots.
Lynn loved the Community Congregational Church where she served many years.
Lynn is survived by her son, George Hammond, Jr and his wife Darlyne Leventry; daughter Jody Sparks and husband Gregory; six grandchildren Heather Porter (Bryan), Katie Boswell (Chad), George Hammond III (Lindsay), Ashley Sparks, Scott Hammond (Savanna), Sara Rivera (Johnny); 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and her sister in law Jean MacCallum.
A Celebration Service will be held at the Community Congregational Church on August 22nd at 11:00am.
