Mary Somersett Tharp

Ms. Tharp was born in Brunswick County on April 21, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Harvie Isiah Somersett and Mary Viola Frink Somersett. She was a homemaker and also was an Assistant Librarian at Bolivia High School. Mary was a long time member of Zion United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edward Tharp, a son, Dennis Duane Tharp and six brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her children, Edward Earl Tharp and wife Doris of Boiling Spring Lakes, Katrina Dale Limer of Leland, Kenneth Ronald Tharp and wife Teela of Wilmington and Douglas Wayne Tharp and wife Judy of Southport; grandchildren, Jessica Niedomanski, Edward Brandon Tharp and wife Jennifer, Wendy Yvonne Cook, Kenneth Tharp, Jr. and wife Megan, Stephanie Limer and William Brent Limer and wife Elicia; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Graveside funeral services will held Sunday September 21 at one o’clock in the afternoon at Zion United Methodist Church cemetery with Reverend George Potter officiating.

Pallbearers will be, Brent Limer, Brandon Tharp, Ron Tharp, Zachery Limer, Landon Niedomanski, William Limer, Garrison Cook and Dominick Giummle. Honorary pallbearers will be, Allen Collins, Ken Niedomanski, Chip Cook and Danny Giummle.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
