Mary Elizabeth Warner
June 14, 1938 – April 9, 2021
Mary E. Warner, 82, went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Terry N. Warner, who passed after 57 years of marriage. Mary's life was defined by love, compassion and sacrifice. Her family will miss her grace, smiles, encouragement and love, and were truly blessed to have her in their lives. Mary, daughter of Woodrow and Ruth Mae (Smeltzer) Bortner, grew up in Bittersville and lived in York County until she recently joined her son and his wife in coastal North Carolina. Mary was a graduate of Red Lion High School and York Hospital School of Nursing. She continued her education with a BS from Millersville State University and completed Master's Degree coursework from Pennsylvania State University, all while expanding her profession in nursing and raising her children. After 40 years of service, Mary retired from Nursing Administration at York Hospital. During the course of her career, Mary touched the lives of many people while serving in nearly every unit of the hospital in nursing, supervisory or administrative positions. Mary cherished time spent with her family, vacationing at the beach, sharing good meals, games and conversation. Mary is survived by her son, Scott Warner (Kristi), daughter, Michelle Wolfe (Steve); three grandchildren, Erica Riley (Travis), Jessica Ottemiller (Zeke), David Wolfe (companion Kate); and one great granddaughter, Callie Riley. Mary is also survived by siblings Harry Bortner, Woodrow Bortner, Ina Kneisley, Ella Lehman, and Karen Bortner. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruthanna Aldinger. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
