Mildred Etta Jones

Mildred Etta Jones, "Millie" a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend left this world for a far better place in heaven on September 29, 2026. Born on June 12, 1949, in Maine, Mildred was the beloved daughter of James Freeman and Mary Staples Blanchard, who instilled in her the values of compassion and perseverance. Her early years were spent in the company of her older brother, James Blanchard and sister, Susan Martin, with whom she shared a profound bond until Sue's passing in 2010. Mildred remained the baby of the family.

Mildred's journey in education concluded at Olympic High School, where she graduated in 1967. Her academic endeavors laid the foundation for a dedicated career with the US Postal Service, where she worked tirelessly for 37 years. Her commitment to her work and her community was a testament to her steadfast character and unwavering dedication.

On June 6, 1983, Mildred married the love of her life, Jerry Jones, Sr. Their union was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, mutual respect, and shared dreams. Together, they embraced the joys and challenges of life. In the life they built together they nurtured a family that would grow to include five cherished children: Tonya, Rhonda, Richard, James and Jerry, Jr. as well as eight beloved grandchildren. Mildred's love for her family was boundless, and her home was a sanctuary of warmth and kindness.

Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Mildred had a rich array of interests that brought joy and creativity to her life. She hailed from a long line of jigsaw puzzle aficionados, finding solace and satisfaction in the pieces that came together to form a beautiful whole. Her talent for creating exquisite floral arrangements was a gift she shared generously with friends and family, adding beauty and grace to countless celebrations.

An avid reader, Mildred's thirst for knowledge and stories was insatiable. Her gentle and loving nature, coupled with her endless patience, made her presence akin to a warm hug—comforting and reassuring to all who knew her.

Mildred's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering support for those she held dear. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her gentle spirit and the indelible mark she left on their hearts.

In honor of Mildred's life and her compassionate nature, the family kindly suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, TN, as a fitting tribute to her enduring legacy of care and generosity.
