Misty Leann Sutton

Born in Martinsville, Virginia, Misty made North Carolina her home for many years and built a life filled with warmth, love, and laughter. A proud graduate of NC State University, she worked as a Social Media Manager for AAA.

Misty had a gift for finding joy in life's simple pleasures. She could spend hours watching cooking shows or Project Runway, loved days filled with beach and sun, and was happiest when surrounded by her beloved pets—her cats Elenor and Tater Tot, and her dog Poppy. Her love for all things Disney reflected her young-at-heart spirit and sense of wonder, things she shared with all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carlton Hankins. Misty is survived by her devoted husband Robert; her mother Annette Hankins; her daughters McKena, Marlee, and Chelsy; son-in-law Stewart; stepdaughters Katie and Morgan; and Cousin Deana. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild, due in just a few weeks—a bittersweet reminder of the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Misty's spirit, humor, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at McCabe Memorial Church, 107 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA 24112. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to SPCA of the Triad or Ocracats in honor of Misty’s life. Links found below
