Phyllis was born on November 18, 1938 and was the daughter of Joe and Pauline Harrington Hornbuckle. She was an avid fisherman. Phyllis enjoyed flying and had her own private pilots license. After retirement as a Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, Phyllis had two novels published by Naiad Press under the pseudonym of Phyllis Horn. She loved making and selling metal jewelry.
Phyllis is survived by her life partner, Diane Crutchfield of the home and niece, Haley Hornbuckle Kennington and husband, John, of Greensboro.
