He was born March 14, 1947, in Presque Isle Maine the oldest son of Gilman P Beaulieu and Marie A (Packard) Beaulieu.
Wayne was raised on the family-owned potato farm in Mapleton Maine and as such learned the value of hard work. He graduated from P.I.H.S in 1965 where he worked as an auto parts man for a couple of years prior to attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He graduated with a B.S. degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science. He entered this field of computer science on the ground floor contributing ultimately to the programming languages that became prominent in those days. He then went on to further his education at Wichita State University graduating with a Masters of Science and Mathematics in 1974. During his graduate studies he had a paid teaching assistants’ position which enabled him to teach college level math students at WSU while earning his degree. Following his graduation, he worked at NCR Corporation as a computer language programmer and for Boeing Aircraft as a systems analyst working on new jet wing design technology. He moved back to Maine in the fall of 1977 which started his new path of produce brokerages with MPG, East Coast Potato and Co-owner of Eastern Produce exchange. He was also a commercial property owner in his hometown of Presque Isle. His life interests such as sailing his boat, obtaining a black belt in karate, riding his Harley and traveling abroad for many years. His stories from his life’s experiences were numerous. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren where he enjoyed taking them to Northeastern Hotel, Riverside Café and the Braden theatre.
He is survived by his daughter Robin and her husband Michael Rutherford of Portland, Maine: Grandchildren Domenic Fagone and Wife Dana-Michelle and son Luca of Portland, Maine; Gianna Fagone and Specialist Arianna Fagone of Portland, Maine; Megan and Kaitlin Rutherford of Portland, Maine. Daughter Rebecca Smerz and partner Marty Gribble of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; grandchildren Ryan Beaulieu of Charlotte, North Carolina; Specialist Glen Peterson of Fort Riley, Kansas; Cassandra and James Cunningham and Carson Gribble all of Ocean Isle beach, North Carolina. Brother Dennis Beaulieu and Wife Debbie of Lewiston Maine and their children David Beaulieu of Lewiston, Maine; Chris Beaulieu of Portland, Maine; Kristen Gill and husband Tim and their children Sophia and Parker of Portland, Maine; Andrew Beaulieu and wife Angie and daughter Akili of Tempe, Arizona. He also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins living in the county area and southern part of the state. He is predeceased by his both parents and lifelong cousin and Friend Dana Beaulieu.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Brunswick County Novant health nurses Jayne, Rebecca, Ashley and Emily. Tracy and Brian from hospice.
There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to the American Alzheimer’s Society.
