Richard B. Sapienza, “Rick” or “Ricky”, 66, of Bolivia, N.C. went to be with The Lord on Friday, January, 15, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. with his wife, Tami Sapienza, at his side.
Ricky was born on November 24, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Wanza Lee Young Sapienza, and his brother, Daniel R. Sapienza.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tami Rene’ Garner Sapienza; daughter, Joy, L. Sapienza, and grandson, Evan Sapienza of Atkinson, New Hampshire; brothers, James M. Sapienza (Betty St. Germain) of Pembroke, New Hampshire and Stephen J. Sapienza (Lynne) of Salem, New Hampshire; mother-in-Law, Debra Lewis of Bolivia, North Carolina; aunt, Laura Luczka (Rob) of Kettering, Ohio. He had many special nieces & nephews who he loved dearly. He had many very special cousins in Florida, Texas, and New England who were a great blessing to him. He also had family and friends who supported him and whom he loved and supported throughout the years. Among those, were his god-daughters, Lily and Adriana, and parents, Joey and Candice Murphy, of Southport, N.C., who provided love and great comfort for him. He was loved and supported by friends of Bolivia Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church.
Rick grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He worked in Asbestos Abatement in Boston. He loved to paint, landscape, and work with his hands. He also was employed at a residential treatment facility for years and made it his mission to help others better themselves and their lives. From 2005 to 2015, he worked at The Military Ocean Terminal at Sunny Point. He also worked with PMCS for a decade as a Pesticide Specialist. He loved his job.
If you knew Rick, you know he had a great love for his Fur Baby Cat, Fluffie, the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and Tom Brady. Most of all, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Tami, for over 16 years. She was his sunshine and he was hers. He loved his daughter, Joy, and his grandson, Evan, dearly. He loved people so much and was always a ball of energy and life of the party. He loved to make you smile and could always find the good in every situation. He loved Jesus, the beach, vacationing up and down the east coast, music, cooking his fabulous Italian dishes that were passed down from his father, and history. Now he knows the true answer to his biggest question in life - “Are there cookies and milk in heaven?”
Viewing will be at White Funeral and Cremation in Bolivia, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Bolivia Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m.
