Robert “Bobby” Hayden Clark, Leland, NC passed away on December 6, 2025 at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center after an extended illness. Bobby was husband to Pat Lewis Clark and a very dedicated Daddy.
He was a very straight forward person. His high school years were quite productive, as a member of the Beta Club (high grade point avg.) and the recipient of medals in Leadership, Honor, and Athletics. He was quite the performer in high school participating and starring in the available sports: basketball, baseball and football. In his senior year, he was the first player ever, at this point, to score three touchdowns in a single game for his alma mater Bolivia High School at Homecoming and Crowning of the Queen, Yvonne Lewis Bright.
As a member of The Boy Scouts of America Troop 227, these attributes were ingrained in him very early which were normal teachings from his parents, both now deceased, William Lyon and Rebecca Inez Clark of Winnabow, NC. Bobby was brother to Kay Clark Phister and Darry Ray Clark (deceased). His parents also raised, as a sibling and family member, his niece, Melinda Clark.
Bobby, with team-mate and friend, Conrad Benton, joined the U.S. Navy ten days after graduation from high school in 1961. They were blessed to serve together for the next eighteen months. Following in his daddy’s footsteps, Bobby chose electrician school in the Navy and became certified. He honorably spent five years and four months in service of his country, both active and reserve, mostly foreign and overseas, boatside. At discharge, his rank was E-5, Petty Officer Second Class, Noncommissioned Officer.
His electrical certification in the Navy led him to an industrious career of more than twenty-two years in varying fields of electricity and supervision. This included general foreman, electrical supervisor and construction superintendent for various crews over time working with: electrical systems installation, marine and industrial motor/generator rewinding and installation and repair of missile guidance computer systems. This career took him to work sites in the United Kingdom, North Sea Oil Platforms, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Bob, as he was known in his work, leaves behind many friends there. Among those are two special friends in Singapore who remain in contact: Ken Bartushock and Cecil Foreman. He retired from this work with Talisman Energy of Calgary, Canada after an accident at his home in Leland.
After retirement, he and wife, Pat, traveled and collected jukeboxes and jukebox memorabilia. Back at home of course he did the usual upkeep, in addition to the maintenance of several rental properties for which plumbing took much of his time. His stepdaughter, Luray, often expresses her gratefulness for his teaching her to plumb successfully.
Bobby spent many days in hospital care and skilled nursing care. Most recently he was at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center where the nurses and caregivers were exceptional. The family would like to express thanks to all who assisted in his care.
Bobby has three children from a previous marriage: Ursula Dawn Hash (Norman), Morrisville; Robert Hayden Clark II (Sherri), Wilmington; and Heather Rene Clark, Raleigh; and stepdaughter, Patricia Luray Carroll Bowens (Richard), Riegelwood. He also has two grandchildren: Robert Aaron Clark (Brittany), Richmond, VA; and Kaylee Danielle Clark, Wilmington. He has three great grandchildren: Nathan, Alaina, and Ezra Clark, all of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by his aunt, Elana Faye Beck of Wilmington, and many nephews, nieces and cousins, as well as one grandnephew.
Services with military honors are planned for December 17, 2025 at Zion United Methodist Church located at 6864 Zion Church Road NE, Leland, NC 28451 in the church sanctuary.
