Ronnie Champion

Mr. Champion was born in Louisburg, NC on September 28, 1954 and was the son of the late John Daniel and Frances Gupton Champion. Ron was a physical education teacher, baseball coach, and basketball coach at West Brunswick High school and later at Shallotte Middle School. Following his teaching and coaching career, he was the owner of Champion Resort Maintenance, Inc. and founded Champion Pool & Spas of Holden Beach. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Ron never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. He will always be remembered for his Kentucky Derby parties.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Hunt Champion; two children, Tara Glarum and husband Christopher of Wake Forest, and Tyler Champion and wife Danielle of Supply; three grandchildren, Connor Glarum, Callan Glarum, and Finley Champion and Mother-in-love, Elaine Hunt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at one o'clock in the afternoon at Provision Company, Holden Beach, NC.
