

Susan "Sue" Guilfoyle {née Masten} died peacefully on November 22, 2024, in Bolivia, North Carolina at the age of 73. Sue is survived by her husband, Stephen K. Guilfoyle of Bolivia, North Carolina; her daughter Kelly (Bill) Ward of St. Inigoes, Maryland, daughter Kate (Charles) Schrumpf of Woodbine, Maryland, stepson Stephen (April) Guilfoyle of Oxford, New Jersey; her siblings brothers Thomas Masten of Huntersville, North Carolina, and John (Dianne) Masten of Charlotte, North Carolina, her sister-in-law Carolyn Guilfoyle of Rochester, New York, her brother-in-law Michael Guilfoyle of Genesee, Idaho; grandchildren Haylee Guilfoyle, Stepheni Guilfoyle, Liam Ward, Oliver Schrumpf, and Charlotte Schrumpf. She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Masten and Thomas Masten; her sister-in-law Judy Masten, brother-in-law Daniel Guilfoyle, and sister-in-law Karen Guilfoyle.
Sue went to high school at Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, New York. Sue then graduated from Nazareth University in Pittsford, New York.
Sue lived a life of service. She worked as a mental health counselor for over 20 years at Calvert Memorial Hospital after staying home to raise her two daughters in their early years. In 2013, after retirement, she moved to North Carolina to care for her husband of almost 45 years. Her children, and particularly her grandchildren, were her pride and joy. Sue loved all things fashionable, sparkly, and revelled in the simple pleasures of twinkle lights and candles.
Sue died following a battle with cancer. Her final days were spent in Lower Cape Fear LifeCare hospice center of Bolivia where she received excellent care and was surrounded by the love of her family. There will be no service and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
