Terence Reckard

Terence Henry Reckard, born November 6, 1936, in St. Mary, Jamaica, W.I., passed away leaving behind a life defined by service, achievement, and unwavering devotion to family and community. Born to Louise Hayden and Egbert Reckard, Terence spent his early years in Jamaica before coming to the United States as a teenager to pursue higher education—an ambition that became a lifelong hallmark of his character.

He earned his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Columbia University in 1970 and later received his Master of Business Administration from New York University in 1979. Terence went on to own and manage Reckard Pharmacy in Ossining, NY, where he served generations of families with care, professionalism, and integrity.

His commitment to community service was profound. A dedicated Rotarian, Terence achieved the organization’s highest honor, the Paul Harris Award, and was also recognized as Rotarian of the Year. He served as President of the Ossining Rotary Club and was celebrated with numerous awards for his leadership and service. His contributions to the Village of Ossining were formally acknowledged through an official Proclamation, recognizing his dedication to the town. In the late 1990s, he continued his civic engagement as a Village Trustee, working tirelessly to strengthen and support the community he loved.

Terence’s faith was central to his life. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Ossining, NY, where he served as a trusted financial advisor. After relocating to Georgia, he continued his ministry at Bethany United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and offering guidance rooted in compassion and wisdom.

He was known for his open door and open heart. Young adults frequently sought his counsel—whether for financial guidance, educational direction, or simply encouragement. Terence gave generously of his time, always eager to help others find their path.

A man of many interests, Terence enjoyed jazz music, reading, fitness, traveling, and sports. His curiosity and enthusiasm for life were evident in everything he pursued.

Terence is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Mary B. Reckard; his daughter, Stacie( husband, Kevin); and his grandchildren Shaun, Krystal, J’Nay, India, and Kayla; and siblings Harry, Carl and Ingrid. He is predeceased by his beloved son, Terence Theodore "Teddy" Reckard.

Terence’s legacy is one of generosity, leadership, faith, and love. His impact will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
