Dayle Haselden, age 76, of Leland, North Carolina, passed peacefully on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her daughters, a final gift they will forever hold as sacred. Born August 18, 1949, in Marion County, South Carolina, Dayle lived a life shaped by compassion, creativity, friendship, and deep devotion to her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Khrystye Haselden (Jennifer) and Katie Haselden Mintz, and her granddaughter MaryClaire, all of Leland; and by her sister, Connie Odom Bennett, of Marion, South Carolina. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Dayle” to her many nieces and nephews, a title she treasured. She delighted in creating traditions and meaningful experiences for each of them, believing childhood memories were gifts meant to last a lifetime. She is also survived by her beloved pup, Hobie, and her sweet cat, Moonpie, who stayed close by her side and brought her comfort and companionship.
Dayle was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than fifty years, Rob Haselden, who passed in 2020. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared purpose, and her family finds comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Dayle dedicated her professional life to serving others — especially those who needed advocacy, safety, and support. Over the course of her career, she worked in child advocacy, early childhood services, social services, and domestic violence prevention across North Carolina. She served as Director of the Yadkin County Domestic Violence Program, helping establish victim advocacy services in the judicial district and supporting survivors through difficult moments. She later held key roles with Smart Start of Brunswick County, the New Hanover County Department of Social Services, and the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office Domestic Violence Unit, continuing her lifelong commitment to protecting families and strengthening communities.
For twenty years, Dayle lived in Boonville, North Carolina, where she built lasting friendships and made a meaningful impact through her advocacy work and community involvement. She and Rob later made Sunset Harbor, North Carolina, their home for two decades, and Dayle’s gift for connecting people only grew stronger. In 2009, she founded the Sunset Harbor Independence Day Parade, turning her love of community into a tradition that continues to bring neighbors together each year. After Rob’s passing, Dayle moved to Leland to be closer to her daughters and granddaughter, and she quickly built a close circle of dear friends who became like family.
Dayle had an unmistakable flair. She was, in the best way, a force of nature — the one who could pull people together, make things beautiful, and turn an ordinary moment into something worth remembering. She loved decorating, hosting, and adding thoughtful touches that made a home feel warm and a celebration feel complete. Her smile was recognizable from across a room, and her laughter made others laugh with her.
Above all, Dayle cherished her role as mother and “Nana.” She was a steady and loving presence in the lives of her daughters, Katie and Khrystye, and welcomed Khrystye’s wife, Jenn, as another daughter. Being part of MaryClaire’s life was her greatest joy. She filled her childhood with love, encouragement, and traditions that will remain with MaryClaire always.
Dayle will be remembered as a loyal friend, a devoted mother and Nana, and a fierce advocate for others. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and held in the presence of her Lord.
A celebration of Dayle’s life will be announced at a later date. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, the communities she strengthened, and the family who will carry her love forward.
