He married Mila Luna Ramirez on May 25, 1969. They had a daughter and son, Amy and Abe. He always cherished Mila. They enjoyed decades of marriage before her passing in 2010.
Abelardo served as the top civilian staff for the Philippine Navy. He joined the United States Navy after arriving in the U.S. in 1978. He was a veteran of the Gulf War and retired after a twenty-year career.
After retirement, he enjoyed playing bingo; Ready with dabber in-hand at your local church hall or casino. He also made acrylic gravestone covers for countless friends and family to honor their loved ones.
Abelardo enjoyed watching Westerns, eating all the food he was not supposed to and cheering on his Los Angeles Lakers.
Abelardo passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. He is survived by his son, daughter and their families. He was a proud grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren. Abelardo left a legacy as a man who cared deeply about his family.
