On Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 9:30 am, Adelaida Ebalo Fune entered Heaven's great dance hall! She is reunited and dancing her heart out with her beloved husband, Joaquin, surrounded by Jesus, angels, family, and friends. Adele slipped away peacefully that morning filled with the love and grace of Jesus and to the festive tunes of Jimmy Buffet's Mele Kalikimaka and Christmas Island. What a happy, happy send off!
Almost 93 years earlier on May 3, 1925, Adele was born to Epifanio and Maria Estelle Ebalo in Candelaria, Zambales, Philippines. She grew up with three brothers and two sisters and experienced the difficult times of the Japanese occupation of the Philippine Islands during WWII. Adele graduated from Zambales Academy in 1943, and later began work as a secretary for the US Navy in Subic Bay. Now and then, a young sailor named Joaquin, would drop what he was doing to greet her as she walked to her office. This romance led to marriage on November 5, 1948, and to the beginning of her most important job, raising three children - Joaquin, Thelma, and Susan in Olongapo City. The orders came to the Fune family in 1955 for overseas deployment to San Diego, California where her job grew with the addition of Cathy and Michael. It is in San Diego where fond memories of her five children, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren were formed and where relationships with close friends grew and flourished.
We acknowledge with profound appreciation your prayers, comforting words, and warm thoughts during our time of sorrow. It is on these sad moments that we learn how much our relatives and friends mean to us. Your kindness and sympathy will always be remembered.
