Aida Mary Lopez

Aida Lopez, age 81, life-long native of San Ysidro, CA., passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday September 25, 2018. Aida was born at home on April 11, 1937 to loving parents Al and Sally Almanza, along with four other siblings; older sister, Zita; one younger brother, Freddy and two younger sisters, Rosie and Sylvia. Aida, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister shall be warmly greeted by both her parents and daughter Ojie Lopez. She was married to her first love, Rodolfo Lopez, in 1960 and they later welcomed five children together; Ramon Lopez, Laura Aida Lopez-Andrade, Ojie Lopez, Alix Lopez and Rudy Lopez Jr.. Aida is leaving behind to lovingly cherish her memory her husband and life partner of 62 years, four children, twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Belonging to a large family, Aida also leaves behind to cherish her memories a host of cousins along with many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Mar Vista High School in 1955 and also graduating from Business College, Aida went on to work at various car dealerships throughout the South Bay area as well as also holding a position as a Teachers Aid at Beyer Elementary. Aida went on to become an outgoing, active member of her community - serving as a Past President of the San Diego Chapter of The Native Daughters of California. Widely known for her cooking and baking, especially during the holidays and any occasion she felt was special, she was also very passionate about sharing her love for people through personally crafted gifts.

As the matriarch of the Lopez family, Aida is now resting peacefully and will always be revered as a woman of faith and will be remembered for the light and love that she brought to those around her.

Please join the Lopez family in a celebration for the life of Aida Lopez. Services will be held with a main chapel service on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, (3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902). There will be a Rosary service in Spanish at 7pm and again at 8pm in English. A mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (2020 Alaquinas Dr. San Ysidro) for Aida on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2:30 followed by the burial at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, (3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902).
