Alana Cabrera Gorewich, of San Diego county, California passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at age 79 years. She was born December 17, 1946, in Cebu City, Philippines; daughter of the late Jose Cabrera and Antonia Guangco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Aranas Gorewich, Jr. Alana is survived by her 4 daughters, Florena Gorewich Mamaril, Charyl Gorewich, Darlene Gorewich Roy, and Raylaine Gorewich Patterson; 7 grandchildren, Jaena, Jennisha, Carl Justin, Ryan Christian, Alanna Rae, Anthony Christopher, and Angelia Jade; 3 greatgrandchildren, Kailah Rain, Raedyn Zia, and Isla Odette. While taking on the responsibilities of a mother and wife, she took on multiple jobs throughout the time she was in the Philippines until she migrated to the United States in September of 1990. Shortly after arriving in the U.S., she took great pride in the over 30 years she worked for the US government military base (NAS Miramar/MCAS Miramar) as a food service personnel. Alana was a home-body but enjoyed watching movies, Filipino drama teleseryes, drawing, cooking, playing mahjong, and scrabble of which she was quite good at. Although mostly just to herself, she was quite observant, passionate, generous, and kind. We will miss her greatly. Funeral service and viewing/visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, 4:00 pm- 9:00 pm at Glen Abbey Chapel of Roses.
Committal for her and her late husband will be on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 10:00 am, also at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
