

Alex Delapena passed away on June 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 18, 1952, in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Alex dedicated his life to serving both his country and his family. In 1972, he joined the United States Navy and faithfully served for 20 years aboard the USS Davidson, USS Hector, USS Cape Cod, and USS Halsey. His assignments took him to San Diego, Pearl Harbor, and Subic Bay, Philippines, and he retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Offi cer (E-8).
Following his military service, Alex continued his career as an electrician with the Department of Defense at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaiʻi until his retirement in 2016. He later returned to San Diego, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Alex will be remembered for his generous heart, quiet strength, and unconditional love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 48 years, Naty Delapena; his children, Catherine Delapena, Christina Delapena Respicio, and Alexander Delapena; his cherished grandchildren, Kassidy Respicio and Kasen Respicio.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at Glen Abbey Memorial Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also in the Magnolia Room, followed by interment at Miramar National Cemetery.
