

Alfredo Gangano Fernandez was born 2 January 1938 in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Republic of the Philippines to Pedro Corpuz Fernandez and Anna Gotoy Gangano. After college, he joined the United States Navy in June 1960 at Naval Training Center, San Diego, California and married Rosenda Apilado Tumbaga on 27 September 1964. Alfredo was stationed at different military duty locations to include Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the Pentagon, Mayport, Florida and San Diego, California. He was also assigned aboard the USS Apache, the USNS Sanctuary and the USS Denver where he participated in Operation Frequent Wind off the coast of South Vietnam in 1975. Alfredo retired from the Navy in June 1980 as a Chief Petty Officer and was later employed by Navy Public Works Department, North Island until 2003.
Alfredo is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosenda Tumbaga Fernandez, daughter Jessieca Fernandez Gaboury and spouse, John Philip Gaboury, daughter Arlene Fernandez Courtney, son Alfredo Tumbaga Fernandez, Jr. and spouse, Rebecca Isidro Fernandez and 6 grandchildren: Brittany Fernandez Armas, Evan Fernandez Armas, Alistair Isidro Fernandez, Alexie Isabelle Isidro Fernandez, Dylan Christus Fernandez Blackwell and Kyle Quinn Fernandez Blackwell.
